Andy Goram was a Scottish footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He started his career with Oldham Athletic and Hibernian. In the summer of 1991, Goram signed for Rangers and he is best remembered for playing for the team during the 1990s when he earned the nickname "The Goalie". He appeared in 43 international matches for Scotland and was selected for their squads at the 1986 and 1990 World Cups, UEFA Euro 1992, and UEFA Euro 1996. After his retirement from playing, he became a goalkeeping coach at numerous Scottish clubs. He had even represented Scotland in cricket and was the only man to play internationally for Scotland in both football and cricket. Sadly, he dies at 58 on 2nd July 2022.

On 30th May 2022, it was announced that Goram had been diagnosed with terminal oesophageal cancer (which affects the long tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach) and had been told he had six months to live. He also disclosed that he had turned down chemotherapy as it would only extend his life by three months. He died on 2 July 2022, aged 58. He was capped 43 times for his country in football and four times at cricket - the only Scot to have played at the top level in both sports. He helped Rangers win five Scottish Premier League titles, three Scottish Cups, and two League Cups. He was most recently goalkeeping coach with West of Scotland Football League club Cambuslang Rangers. Many tributes have been made on social media from former clubs, teammates, and rivals to the man who became affectionately known simply as "The Goalie" after Rangers posted on Saturday that they were "deeply saddened" to announce his death.

His full name was Andrew Lewis Goram. His dad played professionally in the 1940s and 1950s for Leith Athletic, Hibernian, Third Lanark, and Bury. He was the son of Lewis Goram.   • In 1981, he joined Oldham Athletic.
