Ashley Cole is an English former football player who plays as a left-back. He is considered by many critics and fellow professional players as one of the best defenders of his generation, and by some, for the better part of his career, as the best left-back in the world. In his professional football career, he has played for Arsenal, Crystal Palace (loan), Chelsea, Roma, LA Galaxy, and Derby County where he spent most of his career at Arsenal and Chelsea. 

During his career at Arsenal, he made 228 appearances for the club, scoring 9 goals and providing 22 assists in all the competitions. With Arsenal, he won two Premier League titles, three FA Cups, two FA Community Shields, and was an integral member of the "Invincibles" team of the 2003-04 season, who went the entire league season undefeated. 

During his career at Chelsea, he made 338 appearances for the club, scoring 7 goals and providing 39 assists in all the competitions. With Chelsea, he won one Premier League title, four FA Cups, one Football League Cup, FA Community Shield, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Europa League. He was also voted as 2008-09, 2010-11 Chelsea Players’ Player of the Year.

On the international level, he has represented England at various age levels. He has represented England at U20, U21, and the senior level. He made his international debut for England on 28 March 2001 and he went to make 107 appearances for his nation where he was voted England Player of the Year in 2010.   • He started playing football for the youth team of Arsenal in 1997 and began his career at the club. At the age of 18, he made his first-team debut on 30 November 1999 where Arsenal lost 1-3 on penalties after the match ended 2-2 at the end of extra time against Middlesbrough in the League Cup fourth round at the Riverside Stadium. 
  • On 25 February 2000, he signed his first professional contract. He made his Premier League debut for the club on 14 May 2000 in a 4-2 away loss against Newcastle United on the final day of the 1999-2000 season. 
  • Before he fully broke into the Arsenal side, he spent part of the 1999-2000 season on loan at Crystal Palace where he played 14 league matches and scored one goal for the club in all the competitions.

  • On 7 July 2014, he signed a two-year deal with Roma on a free transfer. He made his competitive debut on 30 August in their first game of the Serie A season, playing the full 90 minutes of a 2-0 win over Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico.
