Cappie Marie Pondexter, professionally known as Cappie Pondexter is an American former professional basketball player. She played as a point guard as an active professional basketball player. The Phoenix Mercury drafted her 2nd overall in the 2006 WNBA Draft. Pondexter went on to win two WNBA championships with the Mercury in 2007 and 2009. She was named WNBA Finals MVP in 2007. She is a seven-time WNBA All-Star and three-time All-WNBA First Team. 

Alongside her WNBA career, she also played for several clubs in Europe. Most notably, she won several Turkish championships with Fenerbahce Istanbul and Russian championships with UMMC Ekaterinburg. 

On the international level, she represented the team USA at various age levels. She was part of the USA U18 team that won the gold medal at the FIA Americas Championship in 2000. She was also part of the US team that won the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She retired from professional basketball in April 2019 earning numerous clubs and individual honors.

I didnt [sic] realize that my words could be interpreted in the manner which they were people that knw [sic] me would tell u 1st hand im [sic] a very spiritual person and believe that everything, even disasters happen 4 a reason and that god [sic] will shouldnt be questioned. But this is a very sensistive [sic] subject at a very tragic time and I shouldnt [sic] even have given a reason for the choice of words I used. If youve [sic] lost respect for me thats [sic] totally fine but please dont [sic] let me or my words lose the respect of u the WNBA and what it stands for."
