Glenn Close was born on 19 March 1947. She was born to a father, William Taliaferro Close, and a mother Bettine Moore Close. She belongs to White ethnicity. Her birthplace is in Greenwich, Connecticut in the United States. She holds American nationality. Her zodiac sign is Pisces. She has 4 siblings. They are two sisters, Tina and Jessie, and two brothers, Alexander and Tambu Misaki. Her parents adopted Tambu Misaki while they were in Africa. She used to live in a stone cottage with her parents in a stone cottage on her maternal grandfather's estate during her childhood. Her parents joined the Moral Re-Armament (MRA) when she was seven years old. 

She spent time in Switzerland where she attended St. George's School.

She made her film debut in the 1982 film, The World According to Garp.
