Hima Das is an Indian sprinter. She is the first Indian track and field athlete to win a medal at any global event. Hima Das won the gold medal in women's 400m at World U-20 Championships 2018 at Tampere, Finland, Clocking a time of 51.46 seconds. She also competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in both the 400 meters and the 4x400 meters relay. In the 400 meters, Das qualified for the final where she finished sixth in a time of 51.32 seconds, 1.17 seconds behind gold medalist Amantle Montsho from Botswana. In the 4x400 meters relay, she was part of an Indian team that competed in the final where they finished seventh in a time of three minutes and 33.61 seconds. On 27 February 2021, Das enrolled as a civil servant in the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police of Assam Police Service cadre through Assam Public Service Commission Direct Entry.

In the history of India, Hima Das became the first Indian athlete to win the old medal on Thursday. She was born and raised from Dhing village in Assam's Nagaon district. She was trained in her father's rice field in his village. Athletics had never been considered very seriously because her parents cannot afford sports. Also, there wasn't a pa roper place to train. Instead, she played football in a muddy field in her village. Later, due to her talent, Nipon Das started her training. In the training, she kept improving and within a month, the result was very good.

By running in lane four in the Retina Stadium, she had begun learning the basics of sprinting just a couple of years ago, stormed victory in 51.46 seconds, beating Andrea Miklos who was at a distance of 52.07 seconds. Andrea Miklos of Romania was the Second in overall time charts of 52.58 second.

Hima is the only second Indian athlete to win the old medal at World Junior, following Neeraj Chopra victory on 2016.  No woman before she has won a gold medal in a World Championship at any level whether it may be junior or senior.
