Kalvin Mark Phillips is an English professional football player who plays for Premier League club Leeds United and the England national team as a midfielder. He started playing football for the youth team of Wortley in 2003 and played until 2010. At the age of 14, in 2010, he joined the youth team of Leeds United and began his career at the club. He signed his first professional deal with the club in the summer of 2014 and made his professional debut for the club on 6 April 2015. He has spent his entire professional career at Leeds United, making over 200 appearances and scoring over 10 goals for the club. 

On the international level, he is English by nationality but is also eligible to play for Ireland and Jamaica from his parents’ heritage. He was also called up to the Jamaica team but opted to play for England. He made his international team debut for England on 8 September 2020. In 2021, he was chosen as part of the England squad to represent England at UEFA Euro 2020.

  • In September 2019, he signed a new five-year contract with the club. On 19 October 2019, he scored his first goal of the 2019-20 season in a 1-0 win against Birmingham City. During his 2019-20 season, he made 40 appearances for the club, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists in all the competitions as Leeds United was prompted for Premier League by winning the 2019-20 EFL Championship title. That season, again with his impressive performances, he was named in The Guardian’s Championship Team of the Season for 2019-20 and also was named in the Professional Footballer’s Association’s 2019-20 Team of the Season. 
  • On 12 September 2020, he made his first appearance in the Premier League in the opening game of the season in the 4-3 defeat against reigning Premier League champions Liverpool at Anfield. On 8 February 2021, he made his 200th appearance for Leeds in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. On 23 May 2021, in the last game of the season, he scored his first Premier League goal from a free kick in a 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion. During his 2020-21 season, he made 30 appearances for the club, scoring once and providing 2 assists in all the competitions as Leeds finished the season in ninth place.
