Kerry Washington is an American actress, producer, and director, who gained wide public recognition for starring as Olivia Pope in the ABC drama series, "Scandal"(2012–2018). Having started her career since the early 1990s with her acting debut in series, "ABC Afterschool Special" and then into films with her magnificent performance in the movie, "Our Song"(2000), Washington has gained much fame and recognition.

Kerry Washington was born on January 31, 1977, in the Bronx, New York City, United States. Her birth name is Kerry Marisa Washington. Her nationality is American. Washinton belongs to African-American ethnicity while Aquarius is her zodiac sign. 

Kerry was born in a well-to-do family as the only daughter of Earl Wahington(father) and Valerie Washington(mother). Her father, Earl was a real estate broker, while her mother, Valerie worked as an education consultant and professor. She is of African-American descent on her father's side and has Jamaican American ancestry from her mother's side. 

She grew up with an extrovert nature ever since she was a kid, which helped her much to chose a career in the entertainment world. She also had an interest in dancing and acting since her childhood that she even performed with the TADA! Youth Theater teen group.

Kerry attended the Spence School in Manhattan for middle-school and high-school until graduating in 1994.
