Mehdi Taremi is an Iranian professional football player who plays for Primeira Liga club FC Porto and the Iran national team as a striker. He started playing football for the youth team of Bargh Bushehr and Iranjavan. In the summer of 2010, he joined Shahin Bushehr where he played 8 games and scored one goal in all competitions. In the summer of 2013, he joined Iranjavan on a two-year contract until the end of the 2014-15 season. In the summer of 2014, he joined Persepolis FC on a two-year contract through June 2016 and made his debut on 1 August 2014. He played 87 games and scored 45 goals in all competitions. On 8 January 2018, he signed an 18-month contract with the Qatari club Al-Gharafa. He played 30 games and scored 13 goals in all competitions for the club. On 23 July 2019, he signed a two-year contract with Portuguese football club Rio Ave. On 23 August 2019, he scored a hat-trick in his first Primeira Liga start for the club. He played 30 games and scored 18 goals in all competitions. In August 2020, he signed a four-year contract with Portuguese club FC Porto. On 8 November 2020, he scored his first league goal for Porto. On 17 February 2021, he opened the scoring for Porto in a 2-1 win against Juventus in the round-of-16 first leg in the UEFA Champions League and became the first Iranian to score in the knockout phase of the competition.
