Nathan Benjamin Aké is a Dutch professional football player who plays for the Premier League club Manchester City and the Netherlands national team as a defender. Although he predominantly plays as a center-back, he has also been deployed as a left-back. He began his career with Chelsea and was then loaned out to three different clubs: Reading, Watford, and AFC Bournemouth. He was part of the Chelsea team that won the 2012-13 UEFA Europa League and the 2014-15 Football League Cup. On 30 June 2017, he signed a contract with Premier League club Bournemouth on a permanent basis for a club-record £20 million transfer fee. It was reported his former club Chelsea reportedly inserted a buy-back clause in the transfer contract. After playing three seasons at Bournemouth, on 5 August 2020, he signed for Manchester City, on a five-year deal, for a reported fee of £41 million. He made his debut for the club in their first game of the season on 21 September 2020. 

On the international level, he has represented the Netherlands at various age levels. He has represented the Netherlands at U15, U16, U17, U19, U21, and the senior level. He has captained both the Netherlands U17 and U19 teams. He was part of the Netherlands U17 team that won the UEFA European U17 Championships in 2011 and 2012 in Serbia and in Slovenia, respectively.   • He started playing football by joining VV Wilhelmus academy. 
  • In 2003, he joined the youth team of ADO Den Haag and played until 2007. 
  • In 2007, at the age of 12, he joined the youth team of Feyenoord and played until 2011.
