Patson Daka is a Zambian professional football player who plays for the Austrian Bundesliga club Red Bull Salzburg and the Zambia national team. He started playing football for the youth team of Nchanga Rangers in 2004 and played until 2014. After playing 10 years at the youth team of Nchanga Rangers, in 2014, he joined the youth team of Kafue Celtic and began his career at the club. On 2 January 2016, he joined Power Dynamos on loan but didn’t make any appearance for the club and returned back to Kafue Celtic. On 1 January 2017, he joined FC Liefering on loan for the remainder of the 2016-17 season, where he finished the season with 2 goals in 9 appearances. On 1 July 2017, he was loaned back to Liefering to play an entire season in the Austrian Football First League. On 1 July 2017, he signed a five-year contract with Red Bull Salzburg and was initially assigned to the youth wing where he helped the club win the UEFA Youth League, scoring 2 goals in 2 games. On 24 August 2017, he made his competitive debut for Salzburg.

On the international level, he has represented Zambia at various age levels. He has represented Zambia at U17, U20, and the senior level. He made his international team debut on 13 June 2015. He was part of the squad which won the 2016 COSAFA U20 Cup and 2017 Africa U20 Cup of Nations with Zambia U20. He was the 2017 CAF Young Player of the Year.

Patson Daka Club Career

  • He started playing football for the youth team of Nchanga Rangers in 2004 and played until 2014. 
  • After playing 10 years at the youth team of Nchanga Rangers, in 2014, he joined the youth team of Kafue Celtic and began his career at the club. 
  • On 2 January 2016, he joined Power Dynamos on loan but didn’t make any appearance for the club and returned back to Kafue Celtic. 
  • On 1 January 2017, he joined FC Liefering on loan for the remainder of the 2016-17 season, where he finished the season with 2 goals in 9 appearances. 
  • On 1 July 2017, he was loaned back to Liefering to play an entire season in the Austrian Football First League. During his loan spell at Liefering, he made 18 appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals and providing 5 assists in all the competitions.
  • On 1 July 2017, he signed a five-year contract with Red Bull Salzburg and was initially assigned to the youth wing where he helped the club win the UEFA Youth League, scoring 2 goals in 2 games. 
  • On 24 August 2017, he made his competitive debut for Salzburg in a 4-0 win against FC Viitorul in the Europa League Qualifying. On 27 August 2017, he made his league debut as a substitute in a 1-0 loss against Sturm Graz. In his second season, he made 26 appearances for the club, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists in all the competitions as Red Bull Salzburg won the 2018-19 Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup.
  • On 27 November 2019, he scored a goal in a 1-4 win against KRC Genk in the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League where he became the first Zambian player to score in the competition's group stage. On 18 December 2019, he extended his contract with Salzburg until the summer of 2024. During his 2019-20 season, he made 45 appearances for the club, scoring 27 goals and providing 12 assists in all the competitions where he helped Red Bull Salzburg win the 2019-20 Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup.
  • On 30 September 2020, he scored a brace in a 3-1 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the play-off round, to qualify for the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League. On 21 May 2021, he was named Austrian Bundesliga player of the season after registering 27 goals and 7 assists in 27 games leading to Red Bull Salzburg's trophy victory as well as RB Salzburg player of the season after bagging 34 goals and 11 assists in all competitions. He was also part of the team that won the 2020-21 Austrian Cup.
