The Montreal Canadiens drafted him 12th overall in the 2007 NHL Draft. He played for the New York Rangers from 2014 to 2018. He played college hockey for the Badgers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He represented the United States at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
