Haley Smith 'American Idol' Contestant Dies in Motorcycle Accident at 26

Haley Smith was an American singer who rose to fame after competing in the 11th season of the talent reality series, American Idol. Her family and fans suffered a tragedy when she died in a motorcycle accident on 31 August 2019. She died at the age of 26. Haley was riding her bike back to her State Street home in the town of Millinocket at 2 a.m on 31 August 2019. The bike she rode crashed causing several injuries to herself. She was reportedly pronounced dead on the spot. The Millinocket Police initially reported that she crashed after being unable to make a sharp turn into the residential road.

Her family was devasted to learn the death of her. Haley's father, Mike Smith confirmed her death. Her father stated that Haley was a good rider and a deer might have caused the accident. However, further information about her funeral has not been disclosed. The Smith family is currently grieving the loss of their beloved daughter. 

Haley's boyfriend, Tristan McAvoy paid an emotional tribute to her on his Facebook account. He wrote, "I wont ever forget you. I love you dream girl. He also posted a video of Haley playing the ukulele on his Facebook, which was captioned, "Waking up another morning to the same truth. Miss you baby".

She maintained a low profile. She reached the only second round of the series. Thus, she could not achieve wider recognition in the music fraternity. She stayed away from the limelight following her participation in American Idol. She was also in a relationship during the time she competed on the American Idol. She sometimes went by the name Halley Love Hendrickson.

Born on 11 July 1992 in Utah, United States, she tried pursuing her career in the music industry. And the American Idol was one of the best platforms to do so. She auditioned on the 11th season of American Idol. She performed "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus & Chaka Khan in her audition round. She advanced to the second round of the show. However, she got eliminated from the show's second round. She was working 3 jobs then. She worked in house cleaning, restaurants, meat department. She was vegan but had to work in the meat department to support herself pursuing a music career. Much information about her early life is not available at present. She attended Orem High School, Mountain View High School, and Timpanogos High School. Standing at an average height, she had brown eyes and her hair color was dark brown.
