A Portuguese international football player, William Silva de Carvalho, professionally known as William Carvalho plays for Spanish club Real Betis and Portugal national team. His playing position is a defensive midfielder and wears the shirt number 14. Early Life of William Carvalho

William Carvalho was born on 7 April 1992. His birthplace is Luanda, Angola. He is the son of Simao Carvalho and Catarina Silva. His parents moved to Portugal when Carvalho was a few years old kid. He holds Angolan and Portuguese nationality and his ethnicity is African. He follows Christianity. His grandfather Praia and his uncle Afonso were also footballers, who played at Angolan club Progresso Associacao do Sambizanga. He started training football at Algueirao at the age of 11. The following year, he joined Mira Sintra in 2004, where he was the youngest player in the team as well as their captain.

  • In 2005, Carvalho joined the youth system of Portuguese club Sporting CP. Six years later, he was promoted to the senior team in 2011. 
  • He was loaned to another Portuguese club Fatima for half of a season in 2011.
  • Returning from Fatima, Sporting CP loaned him to Belgian club Cercle Brugge K.S.V in 2012.
