Awer Mabil was born on 15 September 1995. His birthplace is Kakuma, Kenya. He was born to South Sudanese parents. He and his family lived in the Kakuma Refugee Camp until 2006 when they moved to Australia and settled in Adelaide. He holds Australian nationality and belongs to the black ethnicity.
