Hilaree Nelson was an American ski mountaineer who was well recognized for becoming the first woman to summit two 8000-meter peaks (Everest and Lhotse) in one 24-hour push on 24th May 2012. She started skiing at Stevens Pass at the age of three. She was named one of "The 25 Most Adventurous Women of the Past 25 Years" by "Men's Journal", as well as Nelson was named as one of "National Geographic's" 2018 Adventurers of the Year. She also served as The North Face Global Athletic Team Captain. Hilaree was a team member on the 2012 Montana State University Everest Education Expedition. Hilaree Nelson leave the world forever after she fell while skiing with her partner, Jim Morrison, down from the summit of Mount Manaslu in Nepal on 26th September 2022. Initial rescue efforts were hampered by bad weather but on 28th September her body was located on the south face of Mount Manaslu and was carried down to the base camp by rescuers. Morrison said in an Instagram post that he and Nelson were skiing down from the summit of Manaslu to rejoin their sherpa team when the 49-year-old "started a small avalanche." 
She was swept off her feet and carried down a narrow snow slope, Morrison added in the post, and he located her body on Wednesday after two days of searching for her by helicopter. "I did everything I could to locate her but was unable to go down the face as I hoped to find her alive and live my life with her," he wrote, calling Nelson "the most inspiring person in life." My loss is indescribable and I am focused on her children and their steps forward," added Morrison, describing Nelson as "my life partner, my love, my best friend, and my mountain partner.
