Jeff Glor was born on 12 July 1975. His birth name is Jeffrey Todd Glor. His birth place is in Buffalo, New York in the United States. He holds American nationality. 

He attended Kenmore East High School. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Syracuse University. He graduated magna cum laude with dual degrees in journalism and economics in 1997. He received his degree in journalism in S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

He was awarded the Henry J. Wolff prize at Syracuse. The award is given to the Newhouse student "most proficient in journalism".

Journalism Career

He started his career in 1997 at WSTM-TV. He worked as co-anchor of WSTM-TV Syracuse's 5 p.m. newscast and a reporter for the 11 p.m. newscast. He was the morning news anchor from 1997 to 2000. 

He joined WSTM as a part-time producer.

Syracuse New Times named him "Best Male News Anchor" and one of the most promising professionals under the age of 40.

He worked there until 2003.

He was a contributing researcher and writer on The Legal Handbook for N.Y. State Journalists. 

He then joined WHDH in 2003, where he worked as weekend evening news anchor and weekday reporter. He worked at WHDH from 2003 to 2007.

He served as an anchor for The Early Show from January 2011 to January 2012.

He also started reporting on long-form stories as a correspondent for CBS This Morning.

He anchored the Sunday edition of the CBS Evening News from 2012 to 2016. 

He was the correspondent on extended investigations for the CBS Evening News from 2013 to 2014. 

He became the new permanent anchor for the CBS Evening News in late 2017. He replaced Scott Pelley. 

He became the new permanent weekday anchor of the CBS Evening News in December 2017.

He also anchors a daily 5 PM ET radio newscast, "CBS News on the Hour with Jeff Glor". 

CBS News announced on 6 May 2019 that Norah O'Donnell has been named anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News.
