Kelly Catlin was an American professional racing cyclist. She rode for UCI Women's Team Rally UHC Cycling and has won three gold medals in the women's team pursuit at 2016, 2017, and 2018 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. She also won the silver medal in Women's Team pursuit at the 2016 Olympic Games.

She committed suicide on 8 March 2019 at the age of 23. According to her triplet sister, she committed suicide months after she suffered a concussion.

The three times American gold medalist in Women's team pursuit at the UCI Track Cycling World Championship, Kelly Catlin is no more. She committed suicide on 8 March 2019 at the age of 23. Her body was found in the dorm room by her roommate at the Standford University campus in California.

Her father confirmed her death via an email to VeloNews Sunday morning citing, "There isn't a minute that goes by that we don't think of her and think of the wonderful life she could have lived. There isn't a second in which we wouldn't freely give our lives in exchange for hers. The hurt is unbelievable".

Her brother, Colin wrote on Facebook, "My sister Kelly committed suicide last night. She's the one person I had shared almost my entire life with, and I shall miss her terribly. I'll post updates as needed". 

USA Cycling also issued a statement,

"The U.S. cycling community suffered a devastating loss with the passing of Kelly Catlin, USA Cycling National Team member. Kelly was more than an athlete to us, she was and will always be part of the USA Cycling family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Catlin family.  This is an incredibly difficult time for the Catlin family and we want to respect their privacy. The entire cycling community is mourning this immense loss. We are offering continuous support to Kelly's teammates, coaches, and staff. We also encourage all those who knew Kelly to support each other through grieving. We are deeply saddened by Kelly's passing, and we will all miss her dearly. We hope everyone seeks the support they need through the hard days ahead, and please keep the Catlin family in your thoughts".

Kelly Catlin was born on 3 November 1995. She was born to a father Mark Catlin, and a mother, Carolyn Emory. Her birthplace was in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in the United States. She finished in second place in National Junior Road Championships, Road race in 2013. 

She finished 7th in Time Trial and 9th in Road Race in 2013 UCI Junior Road World Championships.

In 2015, She won the gold medal in Women's team pursuit at the Pan American Track Championships. She finished 2nd in Individual pursuit.

She finished 2nd in Women's team pursuit at 2015 Pan American Games and 2nd in Individual pursuit at Independence Day Grand Prix in 2015.

She won the gold medal in Women's team pursuit at the 2016 UCI Track World Championships.

She finished in the first place in the individual pursuit at the 2016 Pan American Track Championships. 

She won the silver medal in Women's Team pursuit at the 2016 Olympic Games.
