Luka Jovic was born on 23 December 1997. He was born to a father, Milan Jovic, and a mother, Svetlana Jovic. His birth place is in Bijeljina, Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He holds Serbian nationality. 

He started playing football at the age of 5. He was spotted playing in Loznica in 2004 and offered to play in Mini Maxi. After just one game where Jovic scored three goals, his father was offered 50 Euro for each game he played and 2000 dinars for traveling costs from Batar to Belgrade. He was later offered to give a trial with Red Star Belgrade. At the time, he was training with Partizan and the club was trying to sign him offering him 200 Euros per month. Luka Jovic signed with Portuguese champion Benfica in February 2016. 

He made his debut for the club's reserve team against Sporting da Covilha in Segunda Liga in March 2016.  

He made his debut for the club's first team on 20 March as a substitute against Vitoria de Setubal. 

He helped the club win 2015-16 and 2016-17 Primeira Liga.

Loan to Eintracht Frankfurt

Benfica loaned Jovic to German club Eintracht Frankfurt in June 2017. The club was given an option to sign him on a permanent basis. 

He was the member of Frankfurt team that won 2017-18 DFB-Pokal. 

He became the youngest player to score five goals in a Bundesliga in October 2018 when he scored 5 goals in a 7-1 win against Fortuna Dusseldorf. He was 20 years old then. 

He helped the club to become the first German club ever to record eight wins in a single season in the Europa League in 2019.

Real Madrid

The Spanish club Real Madrid signed a six-year contract with him for a reported 60 million Euro on 4 June 2019. 

International Career

Luka Jovic has represented Serbia national team at different age levels. He has represented Serbia U16, U17, U18, U19, U20, and U20 national teams. 

He was called up to Serbia's preliminary squad for the FIFA World Cup in Russia. 

He made his international debut for the Serbia senior team in a friendly match against Chile in June 2018.
