Nancy Parker was born in 1966 in Opelika, Alabama, the U.S. Her birth name was Nancy May Parker. Her nationality was American.

She was born to Bill Parker(father) and Patsy Parker(mother). Both her parents are respected educators and civic leaders in their city of Opelika and the State of Alabama.  

Further, her mother, Patsy, is also a 21-year cancer survivor.

She was raised in Opelika where she attended Opelika High School and graduated from there with great honors. While at the high school, she fell in love with journalism and she got a job anchoring drive-time news at WJHO-AM radio.

At the age of 17, she used to cover the news with a tape recorder and a dream.

She then graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with a bachelor's degree in journalism.

  • Parker started her official career when she moved to Washington, D.C., and worked in former U.S. Rep. Bill Nichols' press office.  
  • She got her first TV news job as an Alabama bureau reporter for WTVM in Columbus, Georgia in 1989.
  • She moved on to WSFA News 12 in Montgomery where she got a job as an anchor at WAFB-TV Baton Rouge in 1990, which she continued for the next six years.
  • In 1996, she moved to New Orleans and worked as a weekend anchor at WVUE FOX 8 from where she rose to fame.
  • She was promoted to the anchor of the 10 p.m. broadcast with John Snell in 1999.

Nancy Parker was married to Glen Boyd. Glen is a longtime newsman and JPSA public information officer. The couple had been married for twenty-one years since 1998. 

Nancy's proudest accomplishments are her twin children, Piper and Pierce and her oldest son Parker. 

Nancy was very active in the community as she was honored twice with New Orleans Magazine's "People to Watch". She was also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

The fabulous host, Nancy Parker met with a plane accident on Friday afternoon, 16th August 2019 where she died right at the spot after the firing of the plane. She was one of the two who died last Friday near the Lakefront Airport.

Another killed was the pilot of the small lane, Franklin Augustus, a flight instructor and stuntman who was also the president of the local chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen.

It is reported that Parker was shooting a story in a stunt plane at the time of the accident.
