N'Golo Kante is a French professional football player who plays as a defensive midfielder for English club Al-Ittihad and the France national team. He started his youth career from JS Suresnes in 1999 and made his senior debut from Boulogne in 2012. He has played for Caen from 2013-15 and Leicester City from 2015-16. Kante was a key midfield player in the Leicester squad that won their first ever Premier League title in 2015-16 season. He has won 2016-17 Premier League and 2017-18 FA Cup with Chelsea. He also became the first outfield player to win back-to-back English Premier League titles with different clubs since Eric Cantona in 1992 and 1993.

He scored his first goal for the club in the 4-0 win over Manchester United in October 2016. L'Equipe named Kante as the world's sixth-best footballer of 2016 in December. Kante went on winning consecutive two league titles for different clubs and became the first player since Eric Cantona in 1993 to win back-to-back league titles with two different clubs. He also won 2017-18 FA Cup with Chelsea.

 

He was named the FWA Footballer of the Year, Premier League Player of the Season and PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2017. He was also included in the PFA Team of the Year for the second consecutive season. He won the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea in 2021.

On 21 June 2023, Kante agreed to sign for Saudi Professional League club Al-Ittihad on 1 July upon the expiration of his Chelsea contract.

 

Kante was born to Malian parents. Thus, he was approached several times by Mali. Kante declined the offer and later chose to represent France. He made his senior international debut in March 2016. Kante displayed an impressive performance in the 2016 Euro Cup and helped his country to reach the final. They were defeated 1-0 by Portugal.

Kante was one of the key players in the French squad that reached the 2018 FIFA World Cup final in Russia. They meet Croatia in the final. France won the final defeating Croatia 4-2.
