A Venezuelan politician serving as president of Venezuela since 2013 is named for Nicolas Maduro. His presidency has been disputed by Juan Guaido since January 2019. The US indicts Venezuela’s Maduro on narco-terrorism charges

The United States Department of Justice has announced that it has indicted Venezuela's socialist leader Nicolas Maduro and several key aides on charges of narco-terrorism. The department accused them on Thursday of conspiring with Colombian rebels "to flood the United States with cocaine". "We estimate that somewhere between 200 and 250 metric tonnes of cocaine are shipped out of Venezuela by these routes. Those 250 metric tonnes equates to 30 million lethal doses," it said. As the indictments were unsealed, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the State Department would offer cash rewards of up to $55m for information leading to the arrests or convictions of Maduro and four of his associates. The rewards, up to $15m for Maduro and up to $10m each for the others are being offered under the department's Narcotics Rewards Program, which has paid more than $130m in awards for information regarding some 75 drug traffickers since it was created in 1986. Nicolas Maduro was born as Nicolas Maduro Moros on 23rd November 1962 in Caracas, Venezuela, into a working-class family. His father's name was Nicolas Maduro Garcia, who was a prominent trade union leader, died in a motor vehicle accident on 22nd April 1989. • He found employment as a bus driver for many years for the Caracas Metro company and he began his political career in the 1980s, by becoming an unofficial trade unionist representing the bus drivers of the Caracas Metro system.
•  He received vigorous training under Pedro Miret Prieto (es), a senior member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba who was close to Fidel Castro during his time in Cuba. 
• He was allegedly tasked by the Castro government to serve as a "mole" working for Cuba's Dirección de Inteligencia to approach Hugo Chávez, who was experiencing a burgeoning military career.
