Swedish gamer and vlogger PewDiePie has lost his crown as the YouTube star with the most subscribers. The Indian channel T-Series, which share Bollywood film trailers and music videos, last week beat the star with thousands of more subscribers than PewDiePie’s.

PewDiePie, real name Felix Kjellberg, posted a video on March 31st congratulating his rival – and chucked in some shade for good measure. “All it took was a massive corporate entity with every song in Bollywood,” he sings in the video.

But it appears that PewDiePiew has now bounced back to the top spot. At the time of writing, he has 92,190,716 subscribers to T-Series’ 92,168,949. That leaves a margin of 21, 767 subscribers between them.

Bhushan Kumar, who owns T Series, recently told BBC News that he was “not bothered” about winning the race. “I don’t even know why PewDiePie is taking this so seriously,” he said. “I have not told my artists to put up supportive messages to boost our followers on our channel. We are not in that game.”

Elsewhere, last month PewDiePie said he was “absolutely sickened” after he was named by the gunman who live-streamed the brutal shooting at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand.

PewDiePie later wrote on Twitter: “Just heard news of the devastating reports from New Zealand Christchurch. I feel absolutely sickened having my name uttered by this person. My heart and thoughts go out to the victims, families, and everyone affected by this tragedy.”
