Musical Career

He joined the band Take That via audition in 1990 as the youngest member of the group. He was only 16 then. 

He performed lead vocals on the band's several hit songs including "Could It Be Magic", "I Found Heaven", and "Everything Changes".

He started involving in conflicts with Martin-Smith over the restrictive rules. He became addicted to cocaine and alcohol. He almost had a drug overdose in November 1994, the night before the group was scheduled to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards. His behavior, poor attendance, and addiction led to the group to tour without him. He left the group in July 1995. 

The group continued their career as a group but later disbanded in February 1996.  

He faced legal battle over his right to a solo career. He finally signed with Chrysalis Records in June 1996.
